About GameGuessr

GameGuessr is a multiplayer Steam game quiz. Guess titles from store art, release year, price, review counts, or a spinning genre map — then invite friends into a private room with live scoring.

Why it exists

Steam is full of classics, hidden gems, and games everyone recognizes by name but rarely looks at closely. GameGuessr turns that mix into a competitive quiz: solo warm-ups or rooms for up to 24 players.

The goal is simple — play with friends, rediscover familiar games from unexpected shots, and find titles you somehow missed.

How you play

  • Image quiz — timed rounds with Steam artwork and multiple-choice answers
  • Quiz marathon — difficulty climbs across blocks of selected rounds
  • Category map — rotate a genre sphere, narrow the candidate list, and name the game
  • Elimination method — a small tournament of games; each round someone is eliminated until one remains
  • Odd one out — four screenshots, three from one game and one impostor; spot the odd frame
  • Luck Grid — open cells without mistakes while spectators wait for a slip and prepare their own answers
  • Speed Rush — race a shared match clock (2 / 3 / 5 min); finish the last question, then chase high scores
  • Memory Fragmentation — guess the game from a zoomed micro-frame of a screenshot
  • Team Battle — classic rounds for teams; switch freely in lobby, lock at start; team score is the sum of player scores
  • Private rooms with guest join codes, adjustable difficulty, timers, and live scoreboard

Where the questions come from

Questions draw on public Steam store data: images, titles, release years, prices, genres, tags, and review counts. The public pool is refreshed as store data and player feedback change, so rematches feel different.
